Yard Operative

Major Recruitment are looking for a Yard Operative to join our client’s busy site based in Huddersfield. This is a temporary to permanent position, offering long-term progression and development for the right candidate.

Key Details:

• Location: Huddersfield
• Hours: Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 5:00pm
• Every second Saturday: Paid at x1.5 overtime rate

Role Responsibilities:

• Loading and unloading timber and associated materials safely and efficiently.
• Operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck to move and stack materials.
• Driving between the yard and warehouse (across public roads) to transport stock.
• Keeping the yard and warehouse areas clean, safe, and well organised.
• Supporting with stock control, order preparation, and general yard duties.
• Interacting with customers on site, providing assistance, and delivering excellent service when required

Candidate Requirements:

• Valid Counterbalance Forklift Licence – essential.
• Full UK Driving Licence – essential.
• Previous experience in a yard, timber, or trade environment is preferred.
• Reliable, safety-conscious, and physically capable of manual handling.

Additional Information:

After successfully completing a 12-week temporary period, the successful candidate will be taken on permanently and provided with additional Combi and Side Loader training to support career development.
